Disclaimer
Looking back over some of my recents posts I have noticed that my naughty camera has been warping the horizon line on my paintings, so I am just posting this to point out that the paintings in the flesh have a perfectly straight horizon line. Maybe if I paint the line slightly on the tilt in the future the camera will show it correctly ;)

Phew its finished
The painting 'Fizzywigs finest' below has been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride of feelings. The initial excitement of setting up the composition and drawing it up, the start of painting full of enthusiasm through to 'oh my god I cant stand looking at this anymore' to finally realising I was on the home straight and completing it today. Funnily most paintings follow this pattern as my head fills with ideas for upcoming paintings and I now know I must deal with this throughout every painting.
The title for the painting came about whilst in Brighton on a holiday weekend with my wife and parents. On the last morning myself and my dad stumbled across a sweetshop in the 'lanes' of Brighton named Fizzywigs. It was early and just before opening time but the owner kindly let us in to peruse the awesome selection of all things sweet and this was where I brought most of the props for the painting.
Now on to start another one....

2 new paintings
The two new paintings, 'Sweets for my sweet' and 'Summer sundae' are now on sale at the Tallantyre Gallery in Morpeth, Northumberland. I have really enjoyed these two paintings as they both offered some interesting challenges. The clear wrappers around the sticks of rock were particularly fun as was the shiny surface of the cherries. I am now starting my next painting which is a little more on the 'traditional' side, so when it is completed I will upload it immediately.

A little update
With just a couple of weeks left to work before I become a full time artist I am now beginning to photograph some new still life setups that will become paintings for sale at the Tallantyre Gallery in Northumberland. I am lucky to have an outlet for my paintings as I have sold works there in the past. Hopefully my new paintings should be completed and on the blog within the next month and I am going to try a couple of subjects I havent painted before but dont want to give to much away until they are finished.

The itch I just had to scratch
Today after long consideration and with the full support of my beautiful wife I have decided to leave my job as a gallery assistant and tread the path as a full time artist. This I feel is the career that I have always been destined to do and it has taken some time to gather the confidence to do it, but I am really excited to get going and give it my best shot! This now means that I will have more time to paint and will therefore result in more paintings being completed, all of which will find their way onto this blog. Wish me luck!

Hello & welcome
Hello and welcome to viewers of my blog. As a complete technophobe I have only just recently decided to catch up with the future bus and create my own personal blog. This blog is basically going to serve as an online portfolio of my paintings. I will endeavour to upload as much work from the past that i have completed and documented and will include every painting I complete from now onwards. Many thanks for reading and hope you enjoy the artwork. Please feel free to comment on my paintings whether its positive or negative as I will appreciate the feedback. Nick.
